HELLO AND GOODBYE
BY ATHOL FUGARD
DIRECTED BY LUDA LOPATINA SOLOMON
Featuring Jaimelyn Gray and Aaron Lawson
May 1 - June 6, 2015
Prop Theatre, 3502 N. Elston Ave.
It's 1965 in the white slums of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Hello and Goodbye is the story of Johnny and Hester Smit, a brother and sister. Johnny has been looking after his father, a former railway worker who was disabled in an explosion. Hester, Johnny's older sister, returns after a 15-year estrangement. As one of Fugard's early works, Hello and Goodbye is largely apolitical, more focusing on family dynamics and the feelings of what one is "owed."
